If your Raspberry Pi HQ Camera isn't recognised by Raspberry Pi OS, it's very likely that you need to update and upgrade your operating system (and in some cases for very old images, you'll need a fresh install altogether).
When the High Quality Camera was first released, it was necessary to run an update on Raspberry Pi OS to enable it to function properly. If your Raspberry Pi OS hasn't been updated for a while, run the following commands and the camera should be recognised after a reboot:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt full-upgrade
If that doesn't work, your image may be so old that you need to do a fresh install altogether! To do this, download the Raspberry Pi Imager and follow the instructions here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/software/
